Exocad is a powerful dental CAD/CAM software that enables dental professionals to create precise and customized dental restorations. To ensure optimal performance and efficiency while using Exocad, it is essential to have a computer system that meets the minimum hardware requirements. In this blog post, we will discuss the recommended hardware specifications for running Exocad seamlessly, including CPU, RAM, graphics card, display, power supply, and more.

  1. CPU: For a high-performance workstation, consider an Intel Core-i9 11900k or an AMD Ryzen 9 5900X processor. These powerful CPUs offer excellent speed and processing capabilities, allowing for smooth operation when handling complex dental designs.
  2. RAM: To handle large 3D models effectively, we recommend a minimum of 16GB DDR4 non-ECC RAM. Ample RAM ensures smooth navigation and multitasking within the Exocad software.
  3. Graphics Card: A dedicated graphics card is crucial for real-time visualization and rendering. Opt for an Nvidia RTX 2060 or RTX 3070 (6GB GDDR6) or an AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT or 6700 XT (6GB GDDR6) for optimal performance.
  4. Display: To accurately visualize intricate dental designs, a WQHD (2560×1440) or higher-resolution display is recommended. UHD (3840×2160) resolution provides even better clarity and detail.
  5. Power Supply: A reliable power supply unit (PSU) with a wattage of 750 or higher ensures stable and efficient performance for your workstation.

Minimum Hardware Requirements for Exocad DentalCAD

  1. CPU: A quad-core CPU with a clock speed of 2.8 GHz or higher is the minimum requirement for Exocad. Note that certain AMD Ryzen ZEN2 CPUs, such as the Ryzen 7 3700X or 3900X, are only supported in version 2.3 or later.
  2. RAM: A minimum of 4GB of RAM is necessary to run Exocad smoothly.
  3. Graphics Card: A dedicated Nvidia or AMD Radeon GPU with at least 1GB of video memory, OpenGL 4, DirectX 11.1, Shader Model 5, and a graphics driver from August 2017 or later is required.
  4. Display: A 1080p (1920×1080) resolution screen or higher is recommended for optimal viewing.
  5. Power Supply: A 450W power supply is sufficient for running Exocad smoothly.

Special Graphics Card Requirements for PartialCAD

PartialCAD requires a minimum of a 2GB video memory Nvidia or AMD Radeon graphics card with CUDA level 3.0 or OpenCL 1.2. Previous or entry-level Nvidia graphics chips may not perform well.

Software Requirements

Exocad is compatible with Microsoft Windows operating systems. Windows 10 Pro (64-bit) versions 1809, 1909, 20H2, 21H1, and 21H2 are recommended. Ensure you have the required versions of Microsoft .NET Framework installed.

Peripherals

A standard keyboard and mouse are required for input. A multitouch screen is optional and supported but not recommended for Exocad. Additionally, optional 3D mice like the 3Dconnexion or SpaceController can enhance navigation within the software.

To fully utilize the capabilities of Exocad software, it is essential to have a computer system that meets the minimum hardware requirements. The recommended CPU, RAM, graphics card, display, power supply, and other specifications ensure optimal performance and smooth operation. By investing in the right hardware, dental professionals can maximize their productivity and create precise dental restorations using Exocad software.
