Bite-Finder: AI bite correction and jaw motion for exocad
What Bite Finder does for dental labs: one-click AI correction of the scanned bite, patient-specific jaw motion, the exocad integration and how it is priced.
A wrong bite in the scan is one of the most common reasons a well designed crown arrives at the clinic high or out of contact. Bite Finder, written Bite-Finder by its maker, is a cloud tool that promises to correct the scanned bite with one click and to add a patient-specific jaw motion. This overview, for labs and designers who receive intraoral scans, explains what the tool does according to the manufacturer as of October 2026, how it connects to exocad and what still has to be checked by hand.
Why the scanned bite is often wrong
An intraoral scanner records the upper and lower jaws separately and then places them together using one or more buccal bite scans. Small errors in that step are frequent: contacts that penetrate each other, contacts missing on one side, or a jaw slightly rotated. A distorted arch, a bite scan taken with the patient not fully closed, or soft tissue in the bite area make it worse.
In the CAD the result is easy to miss, because the models look closed. The occlusal design is then built on a relation that does not exist in the mouth and the error shows up at try-in as a high spot or an open contact.
What Bite-Finder does
Bite-Finder is developed by Bite-Finder AG. The manufacturer describes two main functions.
The first is a one-click correction of the static occlusion. The upper and lower scans are uploaded and the AI computes a new position of the jaws that removes penetrations and restores plausible contacts, without manual alignment.
The second is a patient-specific jaw motion generated by AI. It adds movement data to the case, so the design can be checked against excursive movements as well as in the closed position.
The company also offers xSNAP, joints for 3D printed models, as an optional add-on.
How it fits into exocad and other tools
Bite-Finder runs as a web app, where the scans are uploaded and the corrected result is downloaded. It also lists integrations with exocad, Medit and Smilecloud, so the correction can be started from the software the lab already uses and lab management platforms such as GreatLab have added an import of Bite-Finder data into lab cases.
In an exocad workflow the bite correction belongs at the start, before the design begins, because every occlusal decision after it depends on the jaw relation. The jaw motion fits with the virtual articulator and the Jaw Motion Import module, which the exocad virtual articulator guide covers in detail.
How it is priced
According to the Bite-Finder pricing page, a new user can start for free without a credit card. After that there are two models: a monthly subscription sized on the number of cases per month, with a discount for yearly payment and prepaid packs where one “Bite” computes the bite of one case. Enterprise plans add batch processing, an API and dedicated servers. Prices change, so check the current page before planning costs.
What to check before trusting the corrected bite
A corrected bite is a proposal and the lab is still responsible for the work that follows it.
- Compare it with what the clinic sent: a bite registration, photos of the patient in occlusion, or notes on the vertical dimension. A correction that changes the vertical dimension or the midline needs a question to the clinic.
- Look at the contact map on both sides before starting the design. Their presence alone says little: they should be plausible for the remaining dentition.
- Keep the original scans and the corrected version with the case, so the decision can be traced if the work comes back.
- Check where the scans are processed and stored. Patient scans are health data, so the cloud provider needs a data processing agreement that fits the lab’s GDPR obligations.
Software can correct an alignment error between good scans. It cannot invent the right relation when the patient bit in the wrong position or the scans are distorted. In those cases the correct relation has to come from the clinic and the treating dentist remains responsible for the clinical decision.

Frequently asked questions
What is Bite-Finder?
A cloud software from Bite-Finder AG that uses AI to correct the static occlusion of scanned upper and lower jaws with one click and to generate a patient-specific jaw motion.
Does Bite-Finder work with exocad?
Yes. Bite-Finder lists an exocad integration, along with Medit and Smilecloud and it also runs as a web app where the scans are uploaded.
How much does Bite-Finder cost?
It can be started for free without a credit card. After that it works with a monthly subscription sized on the number of cases, or with prepaid packs where one Bite computes the bite of one case. Check the current prices on the Bite-Finder pricing page.
Can software fix any wrong bite?
It can correct an alignment error between scans that are themselves correct. If the patient bit in the wrong position during the scan, or the scans are distorted, the right relation has to come from the clinic.
